After a false start last week and a few repairs, we are off We missed our plans for anniversary & geoff's birthday in NYC, we are now here making up for it ... actually at a marina in Jersey City NJ, but just a PATH ride from NYC

We cast off the lines and let go of the dock at pilots point marina tues 10.17 at 0647 an pleasant, uneventful day of motorsailing and arrived at brewers marina in Stamford CT at 1630 sat out rain storm wed

left 0650 thurs flying mainsail only, to NYC via hells gate...we timed for slack tide perfectly and the current pushed us through at 8 & 9 kts ...probably won't see that speed again... Moved quickly along the East River, past the familiar high rises, the UN, to southside seaport and the battery to turn up the Hudson River and at 1330 arrived Newport Marina, Jersey City NJ

very rolly, like most Hudson marinas, but has restaurants, bank, mall and the PATH is across the street.

met Trace at her office HRA NYC, (very nice,espec for city gov facility) on water st near southside seaport & world trade center twin towers @ 1730. took subway to brooklyn (15 min) to visit her new apt & kitties...very nice street and place with high ceilings, large rooms and tall windows 3sides

subway back to NYC to chelsea area, 23rd st, to meet gregg for sushi

again we are sitting out weather...til sun or mon...cold, rain,very rough seas and next leg is 24-30 hours straight through 3mi offshore along NJ coast to Atlantic City or another 10-15 hrs to cape may

reviewing charts and inputting GPS for days ahead, and doing boat chores

walked 1 1/2 hrs yesterday to get few groceries ... will need to cook more offshore staples of porridge & ginger-ckicken noodle soup before we take off again love to all

saw trace fence in a competition, geoff met us there to cheer her on...gregg went to box at his gymn then all to Thai place for dinner and for dessert at Chelsea Lobster House restaurant, where they took geoff last week for his birthday ...geoff really likes the banana cream pie today, Sun, we'll finish chart/gps work and head out mon am
